The Post-Christmas Lag...

Things have been pretty laid back and "blah" around here lately!  The girls have been sick with an ear infection (the wee one) and a mild case of pneumonia (the big girl), and Mama's been sick with a cold/cough, so no one has felt much like doing anything!  Here's what we've managed to pull together!

Paper plate ring toss onto wrapping paper & toilet paper rolls!  We ended up switching to plastic containers instead because she kept picking at the tape!
She didn't really throw the plates - but I figured it was still good eye-hand coordination practice
Carlie's first sensory bin! RICE!
She did a great job playing it! She loved to grab big handfuls & dump them out onto the mat (as you can see)!
Haddy enjoyed this one, too! We haven't done a sensory bin in a while, as she usually focused on making a HUGE mess (ie throwing and kicking the materials) rather than actually dumping and feeling the materials.  She did much better this time.
We did it again later in the kitchen & of course I left the room to change the little one's diaper and came back to her throwing handfuls over the baby gate...so here is the big girl using the broom to try and sweep the rice into the taped-off square on the floor.
Carlie loved playing with the instruments!
We attempted to play with Oobleck, however my girl who loves to make a mess does NOT like messy play (her messes tend to be more of the spread-my-toys-everywhere variety), so she ended up playing in the soapy water instead, after touching the Oobleck just once! I, on the other hand, could have played with it all day!
Pretend play in the kitchen!
Color sorting our kitchen food and dishes!
I tried to introduce her to a puppet show, with a stage made out of a blanket and bar stools
It was mostly just piling the puppets up, but we still had fun!
Carlie loved pulling fabric scraps out of a tissue box
She even attempted to put them back in!
